History :
|
The name Rhodolite is derived from the Greek word
"rhodon" meaning rose. Rhodolite is a mixture of the red
garnets Pyrope and Almandine. In ancient times all red
stones, especially the red garnets, were called "garfuncle".
In 1965, the best quality of Rhodolite was discovered in
East Africa. In the last century and the beginning of the
20th century, Bohemian garnet jewellery was very popular.
Even today after more than 2000 years, garnet still has got
its full fascination.
